Ahoy from the roads of Minnesota! So far so good on the journey and happy 4th of July! We have stopped in Cleveland and Chicago thus far and are making our way across the Midwest to Badlands National Park in South Dakota. Both cities were great – reconnected with friends, ate great food, drank good beer and had wonderful weather.
Highlights::
Enjoying beverages with Scott at Great Lakes Brewery outside of Cleveland, OH
Lake Luzerne 4th of July festivities in Matt’s Hometown of Chagrin Falls
Deep Dish Pizza at the Original Uno Pizzeria in Chicago with Cliff
Fourth of July Fireworks at the Navy Pier
Taste of Chicago Food Festival in Grant Park
Hanging out at Michigan Harbor
Being tourists at Millennium Park at The Bean
Meeting up with my friend Dan (who went to Cornell) for dinner and drinks – great chicken tikka masala
Witnessing and partaking chaos in Wrigleyville following a Cubs victory
The inexpensive and efficient train system in Chicago – love the L!
Breakfast at Lazy Jane's in Madison, WI
The drive through the Midwest has been pleasantly enjoyable – Wisconsin was lovely. Indiana and Illinois were a little slow, but all in all uneventful and aesthetically pleasing.
Not so Glorious Highlights::
Either allergic or acid reflux reaction to pork belly and vermicelli at the Fat Cat in Tremont, OH which in turn resulted in an evening cut short. When I arrived to the Wright residence, Mrs. Wright opened the door to welcome us and I proceeded to get sick all over the front steps (sorry Wrights!) But all was solved and hopefully that won’t happen again.
The grotesque amount of large insects guts that build up on the windshield through the Midwest
A man who thought it was comical/intelligent? To hop from platform to platform of the L in Chicago with wet shoes during busy train schedules – we for sure thought we’d see a death. He escaped it though.
Big thanks and shoutout to our very hospitable hosts thus far on our journey - Matt Wright, Scott Gloden & Cliff Engel. It was great seeing you guys and you are an integral part of our adventure! Thanks so much for having us and showing us a great time!
Going into the wilderness for a few days -- Badlands and Yellowstone! Supposed winter in Glacier might alter our plans but for now, all is good on Prairie Dog Adventures! Enjoy some pictures!
